The Challenge
Meridian Lodge No. 47 had a website built in 2013 that had not been meaningfully updated since. The design was dated, the calendar showed events from two years prior, and the contact form had stopped working after a server migration. The Lodge was receiving almost no online inquiries despite being in a metropolitan area with strong search demand for Freemasonry. Officers were frustrated by the inability to update content without calling the original web developer, who had become unreachable.
The Solution
I designed and built a completely new website from the ground up, starting with a discovery session with the Lodge's officers to understand their goals and identity. The new site features a modern, dignified design with the Lodge's historic emblem and colors. Public pages clearly communicate the Lodge's history, meeting schedule, and how to petition. A secure member area gives Brethren access to the trestleboard, meeting minutes, and an officer directory. The content management system lets the Secretary update events and news in minutes. SEO and Google Business Profile optimization ensure the Lodge appears in local search results.
Outcome & Impact
Petition inquiries doubled within three months of launch. The site loads in under 1.5 seconds, scores 98 on Lighthouse performance, and ranks on the first page for local Masonic search terms. Officers now update the site weekly without any technical assistance.
