Our Process
Every project follows a structured, transparent process — from the first conversation through launch and beyond. No surprises. No mystery. Just a clear path to a website your organization can be proud of.
Step 1: Discovery
We start with a conversation — not a contract. I want to understand your organization, its history, its goals, and what success looks like for your website. We discuss your audience, your current web presence (if any), and what's been working or not working. For Masonic clients, this includes understanding your jurisdiction, your body type, and any Grand Lodge guidelines that may apply.
Step 2: Strategy
Before any design or development begins, we align on the strategy. This includes defining the information architecture (what pages your site needs and how they relate), content strategy (what you'll say and to whom), SEO planning (how to reach prospective members and supporters), and technical scope (what features and integrations are required). You receive a clear project proposal with scope, timeline, and investment.
Step 3: Design
Visual design begins with your brand — your lodge's seal, established colors, and the tone of your organization. I create high-fidelity design mockups for key pages before a single line of code is written. You review, provide feedback, and approve the design direction. The result is a site that looks intentional, not generic — dignified and professional, with Masonic character.
Step 4: Development
Once design is approved, development begins. I build on Next.js with TypeScript and Tailwind CSS — modern tools that produce fast, accessible, and maintainable websites. Every component is built with accessibility in mind (keyboard navigation, screen reader support, proper color contrast). The code is clean, well-organized, and structured for long-term maintainability.
Step 5: Content Setup
If your project includes a CMS, I configure it for your team's workflow and populate it with your initial content. Content migration from your old site (if applicable) is handled carefully, preserving your lodge's history and materials. I also assist with writing or editing key pages if needed, ensuring copy is professional, accurate, and appropriate for public presentation.
Step 6: QA & Accessibility Review
Before launch, every page is tested across devices (mobile, tablet, desktop) and browsers. I run automated accessibility audits and manual keyboard navigation testing. Contact forms, registration flows, and payment integrations are tested end-to-end. Performance is measured and optimized. The site must meet WCAG 2.2 AA standards and pass Core Web Vitals benchmarks before it goes live.
Step 7: Launch
Launch is a planned event, not a surprise. I handle DNS configuration, SSL certificates, deployment, and monitoring setup. Your team receives a walkthrough of the content management system and a brief editorial guide. A 301 redirect map is implemented if your site is replacing an existing one, preserving your SEO equity. Post-launch monitoring confirms everything is running smoothly.
Step 8: Ongoing Support
The relationship doesn't end at launch. I offer maintenance plans, security monitoring, dependency updates, and content support for lodges and organizations that want ongoing partnership. Annual officer changes, calendar updates, and new page additions are common needs — I make them easy. You'll never be left with an abandoned site and no one to call.

Your lodge has a website it’s proud of — built by a Brother who understood the assignment.
Timeline Expectations
Every project is different, but here are general timeframes to plan around.
4–6 weeks
Simple Lodge Website
A focused marketing site with 6–10 pages, no complex integrations, and content ready to go.
8–12 weeks
Full-Featured Organization Site
A comprehensive site with CMS, member portal, calendar, forms, and custom design.
12–20+ weeks
Custom Application
Complex applications with custom workflows, integrations, authentication, and data management.
Timelines depend on content readiness, decision-making speed, and project complexity. Projects with content ready to go move faster.
