The Challenge
The Compass Masonic Charity Foundation managed scholarship programs and emergency relief for Brethren and their families but had a website that actively hindered their mission. The donation process required visitors to download a PDF form and mail a check. Scholarship applications were paper-based, creating weeks of processing time. The site communicated nothing about the Foundation's impact, and potential donors had no visibility into how their contributions were used. The Foundation was leaving significant donation revenue on the table.
The Solution
I rebuilt the Foundation's website around its core mission: turning visitors into donors and communicating impact. The new site leads with compelling stories of Brethren and families helped by the Foundation. A streamlined donation flow supports one-time and recurring gifts with credit card and ACH payment options. The scholarship application moved online with a structured form, document upload, and committee review workflow. Financial transparency pages present annual reports and 990 data in clear, visual formats. Email integration keeps donors informed about the impact of their generosity.
Outcome & Impact
Online donations increased substantially within the first quarter. Scholarship applications now process in days instead of weeks. The Foundation's donor base grew as the new site made it easy to give and transparent about impact. The site meets WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards, ensuring the widest possible reach.
